Ferrari 250 GT SWB History, Specifications and Spares | GTO Classic Ferrari Parts

250 GT Lusso

The 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso was first presented at the 1962 Paris Motor Show and was the final pure road car in the 250 GT series and continued in production until the latter part of 1964. Styled by Pininfarina, the nose had a wide and low egg-crate grille similar to the SWB’ Berlinetta and three-piece bumper arrangement with in-built circular driving lights between the bumper sides and lower central piece.

The bodies were constructed in Modena at Scaglietti from steel with aluminium opening panels and mounted on a 2400 mm wheel base tubular steel chassis, similar to that of the concurrent SWB but with the engine mounted further forward in the frame to increase cabin space.

The engine was derived from the 3-litre V12 Colombo ‘short’ block unit with the same 2953 cc capacity and bore and stroke of the SWB. It Fitted with a bank of three twin-choke Weber 36 DCS carburettors with a twin coil and rear-of-engine mounted distributor ignition system and produced 240 bhp. The engine was coupled with a 4-speed + reverse all-synchromesh gearbox, with final drive through a propeller shaft to the rigid rear axle, for which two alternative ratios were available.
